Fish Northern Michigan’s Finest Inland Lakes & Rivers

Area We Fish

When the glaciers last receded, they left numerous ridges and depressions in the landscape of the northwest corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Those depressions are now lakes; lakes continuously being filled by clear, spring fed rivers and streams which flow in from the surrounding hillsides.

For the most part, IF THERE IS WATER IN IT - WE CAN FISH IT! In fall, winter, and spring, the rivers in this area fill to maximum capacity with migratory Great Lakes salmon, steelhead, and browns, and WildFishing Guide Service offers wade-fishing trips on the Betsie, Platte, Boardman, and Elk Rivers.

In the spring, summer, and fall months, there are countless inland lakes in which to launch the 18' Mirro Craft. In these lakes we can fish for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, pike, musky, bluegills, sunfish, crappie, perch, and rock bass. In the deepest, coldest, oligatrophic lakes, we can fish lake trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, atlantic salmon, herring and whitefish.

Most of the lakes we'll fish are located within the counties surrounding the Traverse City, Michigan, area, including Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Wexford, Antrim, Manistee, and Kalkaska County's. The lakes we fish are too numerous to list, however, some of the most requested fishing locations are: North and South Lake Leelanau, Crystal Lake, Big Platte Lake, Long Lake, Lakes Mitchell and Cadillac, Green Lake, Duck Lake, and the Chain-of-Lakes of Elk, Skegemog, Torch, Clam, Bellaire, and Intermediate. There is, however, an even larger list of sleeper lakes in the area to fish. Again, if there is a boat launch, we'll go.

One of the best things about the inland lakes of Northern Michigan? No matter what the wind and weather, there is a body of water nearby to fish, and best of all, there is great fishing in each and every one of them.

As for the Grand Traverse Bays and Lake Michigan? WildFishing Guide Service does not offer any trips from my boat, the "Miss-Guided". Yes, she's a fully licensed and state inspected charter boat, but for the inland lakes only. You can hire me, However, to guide on the Grand Traverse Bays and Lake Michigan from your boat. But you're the captain here. I won't be driving you around, but will gladly point out to you the local hotspots, and teach you the tactics for catching fish like smallmouth bass, whitefish, lake trout, steelhead, brown trout, chinook and coho salmon, and the like. Please call or contact me for any information regarding this.

I also have a list of top-quality, licensed captains which fish the bays for trout, salmon, whitefish, and bass, from their licensed charter boats. If you would like to give them a try, I'd be glad to share that list with you.

Whether you want to wade the rivers for trout and salmon, or boat-fish the inland waters for just about every species of fish that swims, make WildFishing Guide Service your first step for a great day on the water.
